I Hate Valentine's Day

If only my “I Hate Valentine’s” day could go as beautifully  as that of the Mrs. Timberlake in Valentine’s Day. Garry Marshall truly has a way of making even the most cosumer driven of holidays seem romantic, or not so romantic… or romantic in the end as is the case for little miss Biel. Most of us with a checkmark in the “Singles” box will be doing one of three things: crying alone, drinking alone, or eating Valentine’s candy alone…. Or like me, all three. Only joking I’ll have my best friend with me!  However lonely some of may be on this consumer driven holiday, I ask you to spend your money wisely… No not on flowers you will be sending yourself from your “boyfriend” who is really your dog, but instead on something really worth investing in. A beautiful piece of clothing that makes you scream from the rooftop, “I AM WOMAN! I MAY BE SINGLE, BUT DAMN I LOOK GOOD.” Doesn’t that make the most sense? Yes is the answer.

So to give all some ideas, lets take a sip of whatever we are drinking, get comfortable, and search our favorite online stores for that Valentine treat from the best person you know… You!

Lets say you’ve been searching for a dress, but not just any dress… The dress that makes all your not so flaunty parts go into hibernation and allows your inner goddess out!

Ok first of all it is an inspiration to get your ass up and travel. Hello… London, New York, Paris? All fashion-oriented cities and cities of LOVE! This graphic print dress from Sonia by Sonia Rykiel is available at Far Fetch.

Holy mirrors! If you’re not in love with anyone else, you can at least be in love with yourself with this Mirror Stud Bodycon Dress by TOPSHOP available at TOPSHOP.

Ever thought you looked a little like Cinderella? Want to dress like her? Why not throw on this Embellished Waist Lace Dress by Miss Selfridge available at Miss Selfridge.

A maxi dress for those of you who really didn’t care to shave their legs on a day you won’t be seeing anyone anyway. This Beaded Detail Maxi Dress by Lipsy is just that dress available at Lipsy.

Skirts, because… You have legs and therefore need to cover them!

A Houndstooth skirt for you, and a Houndstooth skirt for me. I mean this is only appropriate as it is completely amazing and its Valentine’s Day colors! From J.Crew available at J.Crew.

I just died a little when I saw this skirt. I may have just found my new love. From Helmut Lang, this Slack draped Panel Skirt is available at Matches.

Will I feel like a cheerleader or a modern 50s style housewife in this French Connection dress…. I don’t know, but maybe we should all buy one and see. The French Connection Disco Leopard Flared Skirt available at French Connection.

I really want it to be spring, and I really want to wear this skirt… From Alice + Olivia the Leigh A-line Skirt available at Alice + Olivia.

You can’t have an outfit without a top, right? Or you can… but lets be a little modest shall we?

Take this as you will I believe it is referring to a lady, and having nothing to do with prostitues… Unless you want it to… Then go a head… Regardless I really have no clue what I would pair this with other than some leather cigarette style skinnies and a Isabel Marant inspired Tenny. From Zoe Karssen this Madane Sweatshirt is available at Net-a-Porter.

You can’t be a crazy cat lady without a crazy cat lady Tee. Let me as this questions, are you revealing more about yourself by naming the cats on this shirt or by having all the pictures of you cats… nay children… in your wallet? Available at My Wardrobe.

Ok I’ll throw a little bit of rock and roll in here for you. From Antik Batik this Ricci lace-trimmed sequined top is perfect for making the one that got away really take notice since you’ll be shining like a flood light in the middle of the night. Available at The Outnet.

If this isn’t clearly making a statement then what’s the point, am I right? Instead of putting your heart on your sleeve slap it right on the front of your shirt and call it a day. From Tibi available at Tibi.

The one thing everyone should care for this Valentine’s Day…. And every other day… Your toesies.

Hold the phone Nasty Gal, these are fantastic.  No I’m not calling anyone names… I’m simply talking to the brand. Duh. These Fastrane Platform Boot just made me want to turn on my Spice Girls playlist on Spotify and spice up my life. Available at Nasty Gal.

Are these a little much? Perhaps. Do I care? No. Listen these are very do-able with the right outfit. Turn down the Charo, turn up the Flavor Flav… So to speak… Just be color conscientious please? Available at Zara.

Oh my Jeffrey Campbell! Has someone wronged you in some way? Have you been left single on a Valentine’s Day? Is there something wrong that you must have your defenses up, or at your feet, all the time? From Jeffrey Campbell the Mention Spike Loafer is available at Shopbop.

How I love a wedge sneak. How I love snakeskin. How I love the two combined.  Buy them. Now. Seriously. Do it. From Madison Harding the Kenneth High-top Wedge Sneaker available at Madison Harding.

I hope this little boost of retail therapy will help all of those in the Valentine’s Day slump, if this doesn’t I recommend Vodka… and Chaka Khan.
